Location: Cooperstown, New York

Anthony Pacherille is a 16-year-old high school sophomore and church volunteer who has expressed interest in becoming a priest. On Friday, April 2, 2010 he drove up to a group of fellow students at a park, jumped out of the car which continued on into a fence, and chased Wesley Lippitt, a 16-year-old Eagle Scout, into the town police station and shot at him twice, hitting him once in the arm and narrowly missing an officer.

The officer drew his own gun and ordered Anthony to drop the gun. Instead, the boy attempted to commit suicide by firing from under his chin—but the bullet passed through his face, lodging in his forehead. Wesley was treated and released the same day. Anthony, as of April 30, remained hospitalized.

Father John P. Rosson, the priest at the church where Anthony’s family are members came up with the incredibly insightful comment, “He probably snapped. You don’t in your right mind just run into a police station and start shooting.”

Anthony is white, Wesley is the black adopted son of a white couple in a town that is 95% white. Police believe the shooting was racially motivated. However, a friend of Anthony’s indicates that Anthony had been bullied in school and agreed with the priest’s opinion that he had snapped.

Anthony has been charged with second-degree attempted murder as a hate crime, first-degree attempted assault as a hate crime, second-degree assault as a hate crime, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, and two counts of reckless endangerment.

There are dozens of articles online that verify Anthony is being charged with hate crimes, but no apparent evidence to that effect—or at least no evidence that has been released by police (other than membership in “Hate Obama” and Pro-Mussolini Facebook groups—which indicates political leanings but not necessarily racism). I am left wondering if perhaps this was personal between the boys and the police are simply pursuing the race angle to increase the severity of the punishment because Anthony had the audacity to commit this crime on their turf.

Have an update to this story, let us know, we’d love to post it!

The photo is taken from a Facebook group called “We Love and Miss you Anthony Pacherille” which also showed a photo of a boy standing next to a priest, so we believe it is the correct person.

14-year-old School Shooter Hits 4, Kills Self

Asa CoonDate: October 10, 2007

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 10, 2007 Asa Coon, a 14-year-old suspended student at SuccessTech Academy in Cleveland, Ohio wore an attractive Marilyn Manson t-shirt and brought .22- and .38-caliber revolvers, three knives, and a box of ammunition to school. He then walked the halls, a gun in each hand, shooting his former classmates.

Victims included student Darnell Rodgers, shot in the arm, 57-year-old teacher David Kachadourian, shot in the back, Michael Grassie, another teacher, shot in the chest, and another two 15-year-old students, one male and one female.

Asa had been suspended two days earlier for getting into a fight outside the school. But that wasn’t the first time the 14-year-old had gotten into trouble—he’d been arrested for domestic violence in 2006 at age 12 when he assaulted his mother. What kind of 13-year-old gets arrested for domestic violence? I guess the kind that ends up a school shooter! Police had also been to his residence repeatedly for weapon-involved incidents.

Ordered into therapy after the domestic violence charge, Asa refused to comply and was placed into a shelter care facility where he attempted to commit suicide—too bad he wasn’t successful, it would have saved a lot of people a lot of pain. Less than a month lter, he was suspended from seventh grade for attempting to hurt another student.

After the Monday fight, which Asa reportedly lost, he warned the other student, “I’m going to get you.” Another student, Demar Tabb, heard the threat but thought he was “kidding.”

Asa is not the only criminal in the family—on Monday his brother, Stephen, 19, was arrested in connection with a theft on his street. He was then arrested again on Thursday, the day after the shooting for the same theft and parole violation—it turns out he’d just recently been released from prison and was on parole, wearing an ankle monitor.

According to Wikipedia, the top photo to the left is supposedly a real crime scene photo taken by patrolman Walter Emerick on his cell phone and leaked to the media. Emerick was suspended from duty for eight days.

If my name were “Asa Coon” I might shoot myself too.

Daniel Petric

After sister Heidi called 911, Daniel fled in the family van, where police found him—the video game on the seat beside him!

What makes this story even worse? The family has forgiven the boy and wants him to come home! I hope the courts have the wisdom to lock this kid up forever and hide the key better than his father did.

I’m never closing my eyes around my kids again!

14-year-old Accidentally Shoots Friend in Head

Daniel Torres - VictimDate: April 28, 2010

Location: Hollywood, Florida

A 14-year-old fatally shot his 13-year-old friend, Daniel Torres (pictured), in the head in a tragic accident.

The boys were evidently playing with a loaded 9mm handgun behind the house where the gun-owner lives. It is illegal in Florida to leave a handgun where children can access it.

Neighbors and classmates report that the boys were friends and that the shooter is “polite” and “kind.”

So this may not be a teen crime, but it certainly could have been, had the kids not been friends. Instead, it just ruined the lives of many.

The shooter’s name and photo have not been released, the photo is of the victim, Daniel Torres.

18-year-old Avenges Mom’s Murder By Slaying Her Killer

Keith Ryan RandallDate: February 2010

Location: Conroe, Texas

I’m not quite sure I would call this crime stupid, but for the fact that the kid threw his life away to slay his Mom’s murderer. I might have given him a medal.

Keith Ryan Randall suffered the loss of his mother, Lori Randall, 32, four years ago when she died from “blunt force trauma to the head.” Michael Fred Gloede, 55, and his son, Michael Brandon Gloede, were charged with the crime. The younger was convicted of manslaughter last year but his father’s case was dismissed for “insufficient evidence.” (Another source indicates that the trial was still pending) It sounds to me like Dad let his son take the fall.

Randall and an unnamed girl, 15, who both attended Hauke Academic Alternative High School, shot the elder Gloede twice in the head and set fire to his mobile home. Randall’s maternal aunt claims the girl manipulated him into going to Gloede’s home and that he took the gun “for protection” and only shot Gloede when the man “said mean things” about his mother, causing him to snap. Randall’s attorney, however, acknowledges that the killing was planned based on the agony Radall was still under as a result of one of the men responsible for his mother’s death going free.

Randall pleaded guilty to killing Gloede in a plea deal and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. He will be eligible for parole in 17 1/2 years.

The girl is currently in juvenile detention.

The younger Gloede was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to only 10 years—he’ll be out before Randall.

All I can say is, “Good for you, kid, for avenging your Mom and taking responsibility after you did so.” In a world with so much senseless killing by teens for stupid reasons, at least this one did it for love of his mother.

Grandpa Says Bomb-Building 14yo is “Watching too much Internet”

Location: Omaha, Nebraska

A 14-year-old eighth grader from Omaha set off a bomb in his kitchen—a bomb he built himself from PVC pipe, explosive powder, batteries, an a model rocket ignitor while his grandfather, evidently completely ignorant of what his grandson was doing “over by the stove,” stood idly by.

The boy, whose name has not been released at this time, was treated at Lakeside hospital for injuries to his arm and head. He was taken into custody and charged with felony posses of an explosive device when he was discharged by doctors.

After appearing in court on April 27, he remained in police custody pending his next hearing.

The grandfather indicated that he would “watch him a lot closer” in the future and stated, “…he’s watching too much internet. A kid being a kid and he got into trouble over it.”

An anonymous poster on WOWT.com, who claims to be a fellow student, stated about the boy, “He seemed to be like a nice kid who just didn’t get good grades.”

Another poster using the name “Dawn” stated, “I know this kid and he was quiet and had lots of very good friends. He is from a very mixed up family and I think the Grandfather was doing the best he can as he was the one mostly taking care of him.”

A news video can be seen at the WOWT.com coverage of the story.

I’m not sure what to think of this one… I played with fire as a kid too… but I never built a bomb in the kitchen!

Jeffrey Conroy, 17, Stabbed Ecuadorean Man to Death in Hate Crime

April 26th, 2010

Date: November 8, 2008

Location: Suffolk County, Long Island, New York

Jeffrey Conroy, a high school athlete at Patchogue-Medford High School, along with six other teens, attacked and killed Ecuadorean immigrant Marcelo Lucero, 37, in November 2008 in what the gang called “beaner hopping” or “Mexican hopping.”

During the attack, Lucero attempted to defend himself by swinging his belt, but was overwhelmed and killed when Conroy drove an 8-inch folding knife into his chest.

Conroy was 17 at the time of the crime and 19 at the time he was convicted. He was the only attacker charged with murder and manslaughter. He was ultimately convicted of manslaughter as a hate crime, first-degree gang assault, and fourth-degree conspiracy for Lucero’s killing and second-degree attempted assault as a hate crime times three for attacks on other hispanics.

Kayla Gerdes, 18, Gives New Meaning to “Get Off My Lawn”

Location: Hempstead, New York

“The thing that made me feel not so bad was she was old. I mean, 70 years is a long time to live. I want to see a newspaper or the news to see what I look like.”

That’s what 18-year-old Kayla Gerdes said 16 hours after, in a painkiller-induced haze, she drove her boyfriend’s construction van onto retired zoologist Rebecca Twine-Wright’s lawn, killing the 69-year-old who was mowing her lawn, before parking neatly between the house’s front porch and living room.

What’s even worse? Gerdes was on her way to court to face charges of grand larceny when she ran over the poor woman… What did she steal? Jewelry from her mother in order to support a drug habit. Fortunately the mother in question was smart enough to kick her ass out.

Gerdes pleaded not guilty to unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving while ability impaired by drugs, second-degree manslaughter, and second-degree vehicular manslaughter. As of the time of this post, she is being held on $200,000 bond.

Other gem-like quotes she made:

“The car, it went out of control, I was pressing the brake and it wouldn’t go.”

“It was a mistake, leave me alone, please!”

I guess we know why she didn’t have a license, eh? I bet Rebecca Twine-Wright wishes she had just “left her alone.”

She kinda looks like Octomom in the bottom photo… Hopefully she’ll get put away for a long time so we don’t read about her again in a few years popping out a dozen drug-addled babies.

Youth Gang Stabs 15 Year Old to Death at Train Station

Date: March 25, 2010

Location: Victoria Station, London

Sofyen Belamouadden, 15, was stabbed to death by a gang of other teens, both male and female, in front of a crowd of horrified onlookers at Victoria Station in London. At least 24 teens were arrested in connection with the murder of the boy and 13 were charged.

The only named assailant is Victoria Bukky Osoteku, 18. The others were aged 16-17 and their names have not been released.
